WPS is an open-enrollment district, which means that no matter where your family lives, you may apply to attend any of our schools.

RETURNING STUDENTS
Welcome back!
In-District families
- Families who live in our district boundaries and want to continue at their same WPS school for the next academic year.
- Families who live in our district boundaries and need to choose a new WPS school because their student has reached the highest grade level at their current school. (Example- 8th graders who need to choose a high school or 5th graders who need to choose a middle school).
Out-of-District families
- Families who live outside our district boundaries but are already attending a WPS school this year and wish to return.
Good news! Returning Out-of-district families can use the same process as our returning In-district families. You will no longer need to fill out the Out-of-District application.
NEW STUDENTS
We welcome new families into our Competency Based System!
In-District families
Families who live in our district boundaries (with proof of address) and want to enroll their student(s) for the first time in a WPS school. Examples include:
- A family that has just moved in to our district.
- A family with a Kindergartener who is enrolling in school for the first time.
- A family whose student attends school in another district and wants to change districts to enroll their student in WPS for the first time.
ENROLL AS A NEW IN-DISTRICT STUDENT IN K-12
Out-of-District families
- Families who live outside of our district boundaries and want to enroll their child in any grade (except preschool) for the first time in WPS.
Beyond Boundaries
You can view our district map or use our School Finder tool to see if you should register as an In-District family or an Out-of District family. If you do live within our boundaries and are registering for the first time, you will be required to provide proof of residence (such as a utility bill.) If you don't live within WPS boundaries, you can still apply to attend one of our schools using our Out-of-District application. The application process, admission criteria, and transportation options vary by school and are subject to space limitations.
What about preschool?
Families who wish to enroll their child in preschool with WPS have to follow a process designed by the state of Colorado using their Universal Pre-K application system.
INNOVATION SCHOOLS
WPS is proud to offer 4 different Innovation Schools within our district. Each Innovation School has their own application.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION CAMPUS
At Hidden Lake Secondary School, enrolling is a choice—and an opportunity for a fresh start. Enrollment is limited, and all students must complete certain steps to join our community.
